Greetings from Walking The World! 2010
I would personally like to thank you for joining us on a Walking The World trip in the past or for expressing an interest in our programs. It’s your passion for adventure and your friendship that makes what we do so worthwhile.
If you’re looking for some great travel options in 2010, we’re putting together a line-up of destinations we think you’ll love. Although the economy is certainly different than it’s been in the past several years, we’ve seen some positive developments as well.
Europe now offers some excellent travel opportunities so we’ve added trips to Wales, Italy and Provence and are researching several other possibilities for the fall of 2010, including a walking safari in Kenya. We’re also adding new destinations right here in the U.S., including Death Valley, Yosemite and the Central Coast in California and one of my favorites, Hawaii, which we’ll be visiting in the winter of 2010.
We first started offering adventure travel opportunities for those 50 years of age and better in 1987 and were the first company to do so. I invite you to join us in 2010 for another great year of exploring some of our planet’s most magical getaways.
Stoves, Trees and Schools
If you’ve traveled on a Walking The World trip in the past, you know our trips specialize in meeting and spending time with the local people in every destination we visit.
Adventure travel is fabulous, without question. The places, the wildlife and particularly the people I’ve met in my travels have enriched my life beyond belief. I hope that this is as true for you as it is for me.
At the same time, I’ve become more aware that the local people in the areas we visit, those that make our trips so enjoyable, often do not have access to many of the basic amenities of life that we do. I’m talking basics in terms of education, and in many rural areas of the world, a cooking stove that is safe, efficient and reliable and viable forests.
In 2010 we’re starting what I call The Human Express as one way we can help give back to the local people throughout the world.

In the end, life and living, and even adventure travel, are all about people. It’s about the experiences we share, the friends we make, the lives we change and the ways we give back to each other and to the planet.
