|Greetings from Walking The World! 2011 |
Have you ever dreamed of striking out to explore exotic destinations around the world, experiencing other cultures and traveling to areas of almost unbearable beauty? If so, then you’ve come to the right place.
Walking The World has been the leader in adventure travel and walking tours for active adults since 1987 when we were the first to offer active outdoor programs for the 50+ traveler. Since then we’ve taken thousands of curious travelers to more than 30 destinations worldwide.
Have you ever wanted to travel Europe? Enjoy a hiking tour along ancient Roman pathways to hillside towns in Tuscany and then enjoy world class food and wine each evening? Or hike the lush green countryside of Ireland and savor the foot tapping magic of Celtic ballads in a local pub at night? If so, I hope you’ll join us on a Europe tour in 2011.
Or if you’ve ever dreamed of rafting down tropical rivers, witnessing an active volcano, sampling some of the worlds' best coffee or relaxing on a beach in sunny Costa Rica, we've put together a trip you will remember forever!
Whatever your dream adventure vacation is, our passion is helping you make those dreams come true. Whether it’s providing tips on how to physically prepare for a walking tour, helping you navigate a challenging section of trail, picking out the right equipment or clothing or making travel arrangements, we’re here to help.
We’re pleased to announce some exciting new destinations for 2011, including hiking tours in Bulgaria and Jordan. So lace up those boots, grab your daypack and join us in 2011 for the adventures you’ve always dreamed of!
Stoves, Trees and Schools
If you’ve traveled on a Walking The World trip, you know we specialize in meeting and spending time with the local people in every destination we visit. Adventure travel is fabulous, without question. The places, the wildlife and particularly the people I’ve met in my travels have enriched my life beyond belief. I hope that this is as true for you as it is for me.
At the same time, many of the local people in the areas we visit often do not have access to many of the basic amenities of life that we do. I’m talking basics like education, a cooking stove that doesn't produce toxic smoke and healthy forests.
In 2010 we started what I call 1Stove as one way we can help give back to local people throughout the world.
