Detailed Itinerary
What we Provide

In the far Southwest corner of Utah, Zion & Bryce Canyon National Parks offer a range of trails and scenery that will delight and amaze you. The sculptured white sandstone cliffs of Zion, soaring skyward for several thousand feet, provide a dramatic backdrop to our hikes in pastel-colored canyons and along the cool and inviting waters of the Virgin River. Bryce Canyon National Park offers a wonderland of strangely shaped rock formations of red and orange called “hoodoos”. Hoodoo’s are pillars formed when a harder stone lies atop the more erosive limestone: as the limestone around the hard rock cap melts away only a slender column sheltered beneath the cap rock remains intact.

Spring and Fall offer the best times for visiting these parks; so fill up your water bottles, lace your boots, and join us in our exploration of these wonderlands of stone.

Zion & Bryce - hiking and walking tour

This itinerary may be changed at the discretion of the trip leader.
( B = Breakfast included, L = Lunch included, D = Dinner included )

Pre-trip... We recommend that you plan to arrive at least one day in advance. Not only will you be ready and well rested, this allows you to explore some on your own.

Adventure Trips: Zion & Bryce Day 1... Our tour begins at the La Quinta Inn Las Vegas Convention Center, 3970 Paradise Rd, 702-796-9000 at 9:00 a.m. After meeting the other members of our group, we’ll drive east through St. George, Utah and into Springdale, Utah for our first night. We’ll also take a short hike on the Emerald Pools Trail in Zion before enjoying a hearty welcome dinner and orientation to our week together. L, D

Day 2 - Angel’s Landing... Today offers a more strenuous hike to the cool inner recesses of “Refrigerator Canyon”, up “Walter’s Wiggles,” an engineering marvel of twenty-one switchbacks, to Scout’s Lookout one of the more spectacular overlooks in the park, and for those who are ready, our challenging final ascent to Angel’s Landing. 5.2 miles and 1,600 feet elevation gain. B, L, D

Adventure Trips: Zion & Bryce Day 3... Now that we know how our boots fit and have adjusted to our new environment, we’ll head out for a full day of walking on the trail to Observation Point, situated at the top of Zion’s East Rim. During our walk, we’ll pass through a variety of slickrock formations and narrow canyons that are home to stands of Gambel oak and colorful manzanita. Our packed lunch will be at a lookout point offering outstanding views of the Great White Throne, Cable Mountain, the West Rim, Angels Landing and Zion Canyon. 8 miles and 2,159 feet elevation gain. B, L

Adventure Trips: Zion & Bryce Day 4... Bidding farewell to the towering sandstone cliffs of Zion, we’ll travel east to the spectacular land of Bryce Canyon National Park. In our short hike along the rim, we’ll discover that Bryce Canyon is not really a canyon at all but the flanks of a massive mesa where the elements of water and wind have carved thousands of magical spires, pinnacles, and hoodoos from the rock. B, L, D

Day 5... Today we’ll enjoy a 5.5-mile hike along the Navajo and Peekaboo Loop trails. Our walk takes us amongst Bryce’s multicolored hoodoos as we visit the Alligator, the Fairy Castle, the Silent City, and the Wall of Windows. Today also gives an opportunity to stand beneath two towering Douglas-firs which have, over 750 years, grown hundreds of feet from the shady depths of the rift called Wall Street to reach the shimmering sunlight high above. B, L

Adventure Trips: Zion & BryceDay 6 - Fairyland Trail... This 8-mile loop is one of the longest trails in the Park and takes in some of the area’s finest formations, including Fairyland Canyon, the Palace of the Fairy Queen, the Ruins of Athens, and Tower Bridge. We will enjoy lunch in the shade of manzanita, juniper, vanilla scented ponderosa pine, bristle cone pine and Douglas-fir. This trail combines each element of wonder that make Bryce Canyon spectacular. What a fitting way to end our spectacular trip! B, L, D

Day 7... Drive to Las Vegas for our flights home, which may leave any time after 1:30 p.m. B

Weather... Canyon country weather can be unpredictable, but in early May and early October daytime temperatures are usually in the mid to upper 60's and 70's. Nighttime temperatures are usually in the 40's but can drop lower. Precipitation at these times of the year is usually light.

Difficulty: “Hiker”    Days will cover between 4 – 8 miles with uphill sections on well defined hiking trails. Please see specific mileage and elevation gains under each day’s description.
