Walking The World® sets the standard in adventure travel for people 50 and better.
Adventure travel is a way of experiencing the world, not as a passive observer, but as an active participant. And walking, more than any other type of activity, allows you to experience firsthand not only a country’s majestic natural areas, but its rich and varied human cultures as well. With Walking The World, you’ll be walking through small villages, meeting the local people, and sampling some of the world’s finest food and drink.
You’ll get to know an area not by how it looks through the window of a bus but by its true flavor. You’ll feel the soft sea breeze as you walk along the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland, learn about the Anasazi Indians and stop to marvel at prehistoric dinosaur tracks while walking the high desert canyons in Utah, sample fresh lobster and blueberry pie in Maine, swim with sea lions and penguins in the Galapagos, and witness the breaching of a whale from the bow of a small boat in Newfoundland. Adventure travel with Walking The World is about getting to know the people and places of the world with your heart as well as your eyes.
Adventure travel, by its nature, takes us to places and introduces us to cultures that are not like our own. Accommodations, meals and the customs of other cultures may be new to you. These differences, even in parts of our own country, are what adventure travel is all about. During our travels, we do our best to ensure that your experiences are, above all, safe.
We know it’s important to relax in lovely surroundings after an active day of walking. Walking The World takes great care in choosing the best and most appropriate accommodations available in the areas we visit. Most of our inns, hotels, and lodges are 3 and 4-star properties chosen for their charm, quality, cleanliness and the special care given to Walking The World guests. All rooms have a private bath, with the exception of trips that include camping.
Like the accommodations we use, Walking The World seeks out the finest examples of local cuisine wherever we go. Whether it’s a five-course meal in a small café in Tuscany served with the fabulous red wine of the locality, or a typical regional meal served by a local Costa Rican family, we think you’ll be delighted. Breakfasts are hearty, and for lunch we often visit a local bistro or café or enjoy a delicious picnic or packed lunch on the trail.
For the past 19 years Walking The World has been offering the finest walking vacations to some of the most unique destinations in the world. You’ll find that our vacations offer one of the best quality travel values on the market today. Please call for one of our detailed trip itineraries and determine for yourself the significant advantages you’ll find on a Walking The World trip.
On all of our trips you will be accompanied by highly-trained, service-oriented members of our staff who are experienced guides and world travelers. Their primary mission is to ensure that each client has a safe and enjoyable travel adventure.
To help you get the most from each walking adventure, we always employ local guides, speakers, and specialists to share their insights into the particular areas we visit.
In addition, our local guides are usually with us for the entire trip, not just for part of a day or part of a trip. When you’re trying to decide on an adventure company to travel with, we invite you to ask about this important component of your trip.
Note: Many of the photos in our website are provided by our guides and clients.
