What kind of information does Walking The World send out when I register?

Once you’ve booked your trip, you’ll receive a confirmation email with all the information needed to get started – including a detailed clothing and equipment list and a detailed trip itinerary. Other pertinent forms will also be included.

Do I have to carry my own luggage and gear?

No. Your luggage is transported between accommodations by local baggage handlers or by Walking The World van. On the trails, all you need is a daypack and your clothing, water, and snacks for the day. A full clothing and equipment list is provided for each trip.

What about Safety?

Our number one priority is your safety. Our guides are all trained in first-aid and CPR. A full clothing and equipment list will be sent to each traveler.

How many guides are on each trip?

On all trips, you will be accompanied by one or two Walking The World guides, depending on the size of the group. Normally there is one Walking The World guide for each 7-8 passengers. In addition, in most parts of the world, you will also enjoy the expertise of a local guide native to that particular area.

What is the normal group size?

Maximum group size on most Walking The World trips is 16. Usually, the average group size is 10-12.

What does double accommodation mean, and what is a single supplement?

Trip pricing is based on what is known in the industry as “double accommodation”, or two people per room, whether one or two beds. A single supplement is an additional charge added to the trip price if you request a single room. If you are traveling as a single and are willing to share a room with another traveler of the same sex, and we can pair you with another guest, no single supplement is involved.

What kind of physical condition do I need to be in? Can I do the trips you offer?

If you’re in average physical condition and exercise on a regular basis, you can do almost every adventure we offer. A Walking The World representative will talk to you before the trip to help with any questions about your physical conditioning and the activity level of the trip. All of our trips are scouted in detail and are designed with the 50+ traveler in mind. Our goal is not to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible but to enjoy each day and each area we visit. You’ll have plenty of time to “smell the roses” or take that once in a lifetime photo.

How long has Walking The World been guiding travelers?

Walking The World opened our doors to the world of adventure in 1987 and is owned by Ward Luthi, our Founder, and President. Ward still leads a number of our trips.

If I don’t have a travel partner, will I feel alone on the trip?

Not at all. After more than 30 years of leading many, many guests on adventures the world over, we find the kind of people who travel with us are more than welcoming.

Can I reserve my Walking The World trip through my travel agent?

Yes, we work with professional travel advisors. Please have them contact us directly if you would like them to make your booking arrangements.
